See Our Vision: Unlock Your Next Insight, You Already Have It

We are on the path to create a something better.

Reworking what we already hold into what comes next.

Last Saturday, I decided to clean out some old photos. All the memories jumped out at me like they were happening now. Feeling so tiny in the forest, visiting a new city, savoring one-of-a-kind flavors, or hearing the fireworks on the lake overhead. Snapping in and out of then and now. At least 100 photos lay in front of me. Well, I thought, what do I do now with all these?

The simple answer: recycle them. Nope, with no idea in mind, I started out cutting shapes and horizon lines. With no plan, still cutting, following natural lines and color breaks. Now 100+ cut-up photos lie in front of me. Why not make a visualization board? A remix between a vision board and these memories. Putting two 8x11 pieces together, I start tapping cut photos at random, letting my intuition guide the placements. Adding little pieces of glitter paper to create a finished look. This is what I came up with.

Vision Board

I’m delighted with the outcome. No Photoshop here: just scissors, glue, and a steady hand. Quite literally, melding the past with the future: an old memory, now a new, redesigned concept, becomes unrecognizable, ready to be shaped again. The creative exercise reminded me of seaglass. Glass items reshaped by the ocean into shards, then reshaped again into smooth pieces - the transformation cycle. The act of cutting, rearranging, and embellishing isn’t just a craft. It’s a cognitive process that integrates fragmented life moments into a coherent personal narrative.

So my takeaway...

Transformation isn’t something that happens to you. It’s something that you should practice - hands-on if possible. What personal memories or work situations are waiting for you to re-interpret? What fragments of your past might become catalysts for new insight?

Make Your Own Remixed Memory Board

  • Print of photos – maybe choose randomly from your camera roll!

  • Cut parts that speak out to you in each photo – a flower, the clouds, people, food items.

  • Tape or glue them as YOU FEEL IT, to a piece of paper – printer paper works fine!

  • Bonus: add mixed media like design papers, paint, pencil, stickers, fabric, you are the creator!

  • Bonus x2: write a caption, short description, or essay about what you see. Do not focus on the old memories associated with the cut pictures; focus on how the new collage makes you feel, think, and question.

Discover more insight, consider journaling these:
  1. If this collage were not about your past at all, but about what wants to emerge next. What direction would it be pointing you toward, and what are you currently doing that resists that pull?

  2. Where did you instinctively bridge a gap between unrelated images, and what does that reveal about how you make sense of the unknown?

  3. What do you find beautiful in the collage that you rarely value, and what does that reveal about what you’ve learned to overlook?
