Notice that during the fall and winter holidays, Charlie Brown and the group pop up everywhere? T-shirts, mugs, keychains, and anything that can be held or worn. In 2024, Peanuts' retail sales totaled $3.2 billion. The beloved Snoopy character has remained current with an ever-growing fanbase, and has had my heart for a long time.
Back in 2010, a friend and I even dressed up as Snoopy and Woodstock, respectively, for Halloween. Yes, the homemade costumes made quite a statement! And yes, the feathers on Woodstock's head were incredibly difficult to make. Since I can remember, a classic family morning tradition has been to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas while opening stockings. As you can imagine, an exploratory scavenger hunt was the easiest yes all year.
As I traveled through the quarter, I saw people of all ages and genders–so do not think this is just for children! My primary takeaway was that this is an incredible idea for more cities and towns to consider. It reminds me of Pokémon Go, where the goal is to get people out–like PokéStops. However, all Snoopy locations were strategically chosen: safe, unique areas, and non-touristy. It was so fun seeing couples, kids, and huge groups look around for the Snoopy doghouse–more so if you had already found it. Children were clamoring around with printed maps, pointing here and there. All driven by imagination and joy, Snoopy lifted engagement citywide.

Happiness is Engagement.
Rather than chasing incremental Click-Through Rate (CTR) gains through added noise, reframe the objective toward measurable community-level engagement. Assemble curated “of the moment” experiences that drive participation, dwell time, repeat interaction, and foster organic sharing across ecosystems.
Axplore Co. believes this is where the untapped magic lies. Large institutions and corporations hold a unique capacity to connect meaningfully with local communities–fostering collective empowerment and development while sustaining brand awareness and loyalty. Well-designed experiences cultivate deeper feelings of gratitude and elevate happiness, both in the moment and in reflection. Consider where your company, team, or individual practice can step into this innovative space. Recognize that your perspective is shaped by familiarity–how might you create room for new connections, partnerships, or experimental designs that meaningfully strengthen your brand?
Happiness is a lifetime return on shared values. #RealGood
